Setting Pricing Rules | Examples of Pricing Rules | Mapping Pricing to a Custom Field in Shopify Turning Pricing Sync Off
Shopify Marketplace Connect makes it easy to set separate pricing values for your products based on the pricing values in your Shopify catalog.
With Shopify Marketplace Connect, you can apply different pricing rules to products individually or in filtered groups, or maintain one consistent pricing rule across all of your products.
Setting Pricing Rules
Each pricing rule is made up of a combination of some, or all, of the following:
Operator: This is the type of pricing rule that you will use to determine your marketplace price and can be chosen from a drop-down list of options.
- Web Price: Syncs the Marketplace Price exactly to your Shopify price for a product.
- % Increase/Decrease: Sets the Marketplace Price to the Shopify price plus or minus a set percentage.
- $ Increase/Decrease: Sets the Marketplace Price to the Shopify price plus or minus a specified dollar value.
- Fixed Price: Sets the Marketplace Price to a constant value that you manually enter.
Input: Some operators need to be combined with a numerical input value, for example, for the "% Increase" operator, the Marketplace Price will be equal to the Shopify price for a product plus the percentage amount you enter in the "Input" field.
Rounding: You can choose to round your Marketplace Price after the operator and input have been calculated, or leave it, by choosing from the drop-down list of options.
Result: In Single Edit and Bulk Edit listing modes, the "Result" is a preview of the price that will appear on your Marketplace listing for a product after the above calculations are made.
You can apply pricing rules to products individually, in filtered groups, or in bulk across your entire catalog using Bulk Edit Mode, or to individual products using Single Edit Mode.

You can also map to pricing values stored in metafields in your Shopify catalog, or, if you are using a third-party pricing tool for Marketplace or simply want to keep the current pricing values for your products on Marketplace without them being synced to your Shopify price, you can turn pricing sync off completely.
Examples of Pricing Rules
The below table shows examples of how combining operators, input values, and rounding will determine the Marketplace price (result) based on the Shopify Price. For more information on the individual operators and how they work, see below.
Shopify Price | Operator | Input | Rounding | Result |
$100 | Shopify Store Price | - | None | $100 |
$100 | % Increase | 10 | Nearest 0.99 | $109.99 |
$100 | % Decrease | 10 | Nearest 0.99 | $89.99 |
$100 | $ Increase | 5 | None | $105 |
$100 | $ Decrease | 5 | None | $95 |
$100 | Fixed Price | $90 | None | $90 |
Note: If you are using a store currency that is not in $ (dollars), the input value will increase/decrease the Marketplace by price by whichever currency you are selling in.
Shopify Store Price
If you set the Marketplace Price operator to "Web Price" for a product, the Marketplace Price will be synced to the pricing value for that product in your Shopify catalog exactly. Any changes to the price in Shopify will be instantly reflected on your Marketplace listing.
Example: If you are selling a pair of headphones on Shopify for $10, and set the Marketplace Price for the headphones to "Shopify Store Price", the price on Marketplace will be $10. Later, if you change the price on Shopify for the headphones to $15, the price on Marketplace will also change to $15.
Percentage Increase/Decrease
If you set the Marketplace Price operator to "% Increase", the price on the Marketplace listing for that product will be equal to the Shopify price for that product, plus the percentage amount you enter in the input field. Any time you change the price in Shopify, the Marketplace Price will be recalculated based on the new Shopify price.
Example: If you are selling a pair of headphones on Shopify for $10, and set the Marketplace Price to "% Increase" and enter "10" in the value field, the price on Marketplace will be $11 ($10 + 10%).
Later, if you change the price in Shopify for the headphones to $15, the price on Marketplace will be adjusted to $16.50 ($15 + 10%).
If you set the Marketplace Price to "% Decrease", the price on the Marketplace listing for that product will be equal to the Shopify price for that product, minus the percentage amount you enter in the input field. Any time you change the price in Shopify, the Marketplace Price will be recalculated based on the new Shopify price.
Example: If you are selling a pair of headphones on Shopify for $10, and set the Marketplace Price to "% Decrease" and enter "10" in the value field, the price on Marketplace will be $9 ($10 - 10%).
Later, if you change the price in Shopify for the headphones to $15, the price on Marketplace will be adjusted to $13.50 ($15 - 10%).
$ Increase/Decrease
If you set the Marketplace Price operator to "$ Increase", the price on the Marketplace listing for that product will be equal to the Shopify price for that product, plus the dollar amount you enter in the input field. Any time you change the price in Shopify, the Marketplace Price will be recalculated based on the new Shopify price.
Example: If you are selling a pair of headphones on Shopify for $10, and set the Marketplace Price to "$ Increase" and enter "2" in the value field, the price on Marketplace will be $12 ($10 + $2).
Later, if you change the price in Shopify for the headphones to $15, the price on Marketplace will be adjusted to $17 ($15 + $2).
If you set the Marketplace Price operator to "$ Decrease", the price on the Marketplace listing for that product will be equal to the Shopify price for that product, minus the dollar amount you enter in the input field. Any time you change the price in Shopify, the Marketplace Price will be recalculated based on the new Shopify price.
Example: If you are selling a pair of headphones on Shopify for $10, and set the Marketplace Price to "$ Decrease" and enter "2" in the value field, the price on Marketplace will be $8 ($10 - $2).
Later, if you change the price in Shopify for the headphones to $15, the price on Marketplace will be adjusted to $13 ($15 - $2).
Note: If you are using a store currency that is not in $ (dollars), the input value will increase/decrease the Marketplace by price by whichever currency you are selling in.
Fixed Price
You can manually set a fixed value for the Marketplace Price for a product by setting the Marketplace Price operator to "Fixed Price" and entering a numerical value in the input field. The value you enter will be the Marketplace Price on the listing and will stay the same even if you change the price in your Shopify catalog.
Example: If you are selling a pair of headphones on Shopify for $10, and set the Marketplace Price to "Fixed Price" and enter "$12" in the value field, the price on Marketplace will be $12. Later, if you change the price in Shopify for the headphones to $15, the price on Marketplace will remain unchanged at $12.
Mapping Pricing to a Custom Field in Shopify
If you have pricing values stored in custom fields in Shopify, you can map those fields using Attribute Mapping.
Simply navigate to the Listings View and select attribute mapping, then use the drop-down menu to select the field where the pricing values you wish to use are stored, and save your changes.
The pricing value for all of your active products will now be synced to the values in that field.
Turning Pricing Sync Off
In some cases, you may want to disable pricing sync completely if you:
- Are using a third-party pricing tool to manage your Marketplace pricing?
- Want to keep your current pricing values on Marketplace as they are so that any changes to your prices in Shopify are not synced to your Marketplace prices?
- Want to manage your Marketplace pricing directly from Marketplace Seller Central?
You can turn pricing sync off using Attribute Mapping Mode.
Simply navigate to the Listings View and select Attribute Mapping, then tick the checkbox for "Do Not Synchronize Price" in the Marketplace Price section and save your changes.
This will turn off pricing sync for all of your Marketplace products. Pricing sync can not be turned off for individual products or groups of products.
Any further changes made to the pricing for your Shopify products will no longer be synced to your Marketplace listings.
If you want to make changes to your Marketplace pricing, you will need to do it directly through Amazon Seller Central, eBay Seller Hub, Walmart Seller Center, or Etsy Seller Dashboard through your third-party Marketplace pricing tool (if you are using one).
