Background
Existing eBay listings can be adopted by Shopify Marketplace Connect to preserve historic sales data, however, they need to be ‘linked’ to your Shopify catalog first. After connecting your eBay account, Marketplace Connect will automatically poll the eBay account to check for any existing listings.
If you have products on eBay that aren't in your Shopify catalog, Marketplace Connect doesn’t create products in Shopify for you. If you require product creation in Shopify you may be able to use an alternative service (e.g. an importer app), which may be found on the app store.
Once the products exist in Shopify, they can be linked to your existing eBay listings.
Sales history and eBay ‘best match’ is retained when linking existing listings. Once linked, products are automatically “enabled”. Any changes to these products in Shopify will revise your eBay listings automatically.
*TIP Once you’ve linked your listings, all changes to eBay listings for enabled products must be done in Shopify. Any changes made directly from eBay will get overwritten with the settings in Marketplace Connect.
How to Link eBay Listings
Navigate to 'Link Listings' at the top right of the listings tab page. Select the eBay account you would like to link existing listings from.
Marketplace Connect will attempt to match your existing eBay listings to your Shopify catalog using 2 methods:
- Matching SKU codes and product identifiers - This is the highest confidence match and can be quickly approved in bulk
- Matching product titles - Extends beyond “exact match” and often requires review before approving
If no matches are found, you can manually search for products in your catalog or leave these listings unlinked. Be sure to check that you still stock these products and if they are not available in your Shopify catalog.
Once you’ve selected the products you'd like to link to your catalog, choose the listing rules you’d like to adopt for your listings
Use eBay rules - Title, Description, Price, Tax, and Image inherit your current settings in eBay
Use Marketplace Connect settings - Title, Description, Price, Tax, and Image override of any data already set on eBay and this cannot be restored

I accidentally linked the wrong products, how can I unlink them?
You can reach out to marketplace-connect@shopify.com to request assistance with unlinking products.
I have used eBay Price, Title or Description during linking but want to change so they are now synced with Shopify?
If you chose "eBay settings" for Price, Title, or Description, they are now set as constant or 'hard-coded values' and are not being synced with Shopify. You can change these settings at any stage by following the below steps.
eBay Price
Bulk edit the eBay price to use the operator "web price". This will adopt the live Shopify price on all eBay listings
eBay Title
If you want to have your product name from Shopify synced to your eBay title then you need to bulk edit the title field to: {name}
eBay Description
If you chose "eBay settings" when linking the listing, the following will have happened:
- The full eBay description of the listing will load into the Description field
- The template is set to “Imported”, which ensures that the pre-existing eBay description is excluded from revisions.
If you want to have your description field from Shopify synced to your eBay description, navigate to bulk-edit mode, then:
- Bulk edit the description field to {description}
- Add “Template” to the bulk-edit grid from the “Extra fields” menu
- Set the Template column to default.
- Save and publish to eBay
