Listing your products in the correct category on eBay is important to consider when optimizing for eBay’s ‘best match’ search algorithm. In most cases, it will be very clear which category to map each of your products to, however, in some cases there is more than one “suitable” category. eBay does allow you to map a second category to your products if you choose, however, this comes with an insertion fee each month.
eBay provides 2 category options
Within the grid you’ll find two unique category columns after adding “eBay categories”:
- Category: This column refers to the eBay-defined category taxonomy that your product will be listed in and used for buyer searches. This column will be automatically mapped if you do not update prior to listing.
- Store category: The store category function allows you to create custom categories within your branded eBay store. By doing so, you can more accurately mimic your website browsing experience on eBay.
